True Story Productions is a Los Angeles-based production company founded by Nick Bilton, a New York Times-bestselling author, journalist, and filmmaker.

Known for probing the most talked about issues of our time, True Story Productions specializes in creating thought-provoking and wildly entertaining content across a multitude of mediums. We produce documentaries, scripted television shows, feature films, narrative nonfiction books, and podcasts — all inspired by true stories.

Recent projects include HBO's The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley, directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney, HBO's Fake Famous, which Bilton directed, and a forthcoming three-part doc series based on Bilton'sVanity Fair story “Bitcoin Bonnie and Clyde", in partnership with Netflix and director Chris Smith.

Additionally, True Story is currently in production on a doc series based on the founding of Twitter, in partnership with Netflix and Tiller Russell, and in pre-production on a limited series drama with Netflix and UCP,  with Bilton serving as showrunner and executive producer. We have over a dozen other projects in various stages of development with Lucky Chap, Amazon Studios, Warner Bros, HBO, Netflix, and UCP.
